Commercial Printing
- Business Cards, Leaflets, Stationery -
Business Printing
Its required in the form of leaflets,
letterheads, brochures
business cards and much more and forms an
integral part of
introducing you to new customers and putting
a face on your
company.
In this section, we look at printing and the
do's and don'ts
to save you money and get a great printed
product.
Business Cards - Stationery and lots more
Leaflets - They
say it all!
So leaflets really are a great item to
use to promote your company, from experience
the most popular size is A5, we sell lots of
these they fit through the letterbox, there
right to the point if designed properly and
are a short intro to the services you offer.
All a leaflet hinges on to be
successful is two things:
1 -
The weight of paper:
There are so many different trades in the UK
for some 80Gsm Matt Bond does the trick, for
to others 130Gsm Gloss is best. Example
trades Builders, plumbers, gardeners and
allied trades do well largely on 80Gsm Matt
Bond paper leaflets, whilst beauty therapy,
hairdressers, high tech companies etc do
well with gloss leaflet paper. Always best
to check first!
2 -
Design:
This can be the make break point from a good
print or a bad one. So often we receive
artwork in Microsoft Word format, or
Microsoft PowerPoint whilst for hobby stuff,
local fete etc these are ok to use, for
modern printing they are definitely not, why
you may ask, its because they are
RGB a very old style of printing long
since retired. When we receive artwork like
this it can cause heartache to the customer
when the printed item is nothing like
(colours) the original as programs that
output the artwork like illustrator convert
the colours to
CMYK
Programs that
are not good for the modern litho press:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft
PowerPoint
These programs when used to produce
artwork do not make the design
print-ready. our advice either get a
designer or we can carry out artwork
services for you. Its money well spent.
Programs that
are good for the modern litho press:
Adobe Photoshop
Abode illustrator
Quark Express
Some Serif products
MS Publisher - Has
problems converting colours
The above
information is true also for brochures,
booklets, letterheads in fact anything
printable.
