Qualifications Rita Sandford, the founder of Inside Out Learning is a Lifelong Learning Specialist, holding a Masters in Continuing Education from the University of Warwick (UK) and a B.A. (Hons) from University College Cork (Ireland). Breadth of Knowledge and Experience Her experience of Lifelong Learning is rich and varied and has spanned nearly twenty years. She has worked as a lecturer, trainer, workshop facilitator, author and editor of course materials, project manager, curriculum and qualifications adviser and external examiner. Her experience encompasses key facets of the learning experience, i.e. delivery, curriculum and course design, assessment, accreditation and quality assurance. Platforms The settings in which she has worked include local government, universities, prisons, voluntary bodies, schools and businesses. She has presented at international academic conferences including UK and India. In November 2008, she will present at the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education conference in Denver. The topic of this paper will be “Social Exclusion: Can Compulsory Participation in Lifelong Learning Provide the Solution? Rita is also an experienced and vibrant public speaker and mentors those new to public speaking. She has been a member of Toastmasters International for eighteen years and has won numerous contests. She was Area Governor for the period July 2007 – June 2008, during which time she supported clubs in the West Midlands (UK). She has delivered speeches internationally.
